The iSimangaliso Wetland Park is massive in size and covers an area of 3 280 km². The parks offers numerous access points from which you will be able to enjoy this magnificent area.
The iSimangaliso Wetland Park has 10 areas from which you may enter the park namely:
- The Coastal Forest
- The Eastern Shores / Cape Vidal
- The Western Shores / Charters Creek
- False Bay
- Kosi Bay
- Lake Sibaya
- Lake St Lucia
- Maphelane
- Sodwana Bay
- Umkhuze
Accessing any of the gates is predominantly made by the National road (N2).

Starting from the South
Maphelane Gate & Fees
The southernmost point of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, set at the base of South Africa's highest vegetated dune. To the east lies the Indian Ocean to the west lies the uMfolozi River and to the north lies St Lucia. Offering a small rustic resort and campsite.

Approximately 50km off the N2, turn off at Kwambonambi from Richardsbay. Please note that the roads are gravel and sandy and it is not recommended for cars with limited clearance. Please allow enough time to reach the gates before closure.

Overview
This smaller but magnificent area of iSimangaliso Wetland Park offers splendid fishing opportunities both from the shore and deep sea. With a protected bay from which to launch your vessel. The bay also offers some incredible snorkeling however please do so at low tide only due to the strong currents.
Eastern Shores - Cape Vidal Gate & Fees
What has to be the most popular destination within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Game Viewing, Loop Roads, Hides, and of course the ability to enjoy some magical snorkeling at Cape Vidal.

If you have visited the Eastern Shores then you just have to visit the Western Shores its a completely different feel with some majestic lookouts, hides, and wildlife.

Directions
From St Lucia travel back towards Mtubutuba for 2 km the sign Dukukduku Gate will be on the right-hand side. The Nhlozi Gate is on the northern side and may be accessed when traveling from Hluhluwe towards Mtubatuba.
One may reach Charters Creek from the Western shores Dukukduku Gate.

Lake St Lucia
The lake may be witnessed from varying viewpoints within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Overview
